"Right. But then it'd still be unfair advantage. Flea didn't have a scanner to prove anything," she said wisely.

"I would have let him use mine if he'd asked," Gate says.

"I was starting to worry you were both having some kind of malfunction," Alia says, giggling now that it's over, but definitely relieved she was wrong there.

"They do. They're men," Jubee giggled as well.

And it shows a bit that Alia hasn't spent too much time around other girls - because she completely fails to get that joke.

"All males have some type of malfunction," Jubee tried to explain. "They're stupid when it comes to girls, and love, and emotions and stuff."

More uncomfortable silence. Wolfang seems to be trying to ignore this by picking at his food, while Yammark does likewise with his salad and looks like he's trying not to cry.

Alia doesn't seem to know what to say about it, looking distinctly uncomfortable. "Well I... I really think those kinds of determinations should be made on an individual basis..."

Glancing around at his four creations, Gate's starting to wonder if maybe it's time to head back home. Scarab's squirming in the beanbag chair and Flea looks like he's holding back a tempermental outburst that would surely cause an unnecessary scene.

Bigotry becaue they weren't human, that was something they were all quite used to. Sexism was something else entirely. Most of the people they'd worked with didn't care cared too much what gender a robot master or reploid was, so long as it did its job.

Jubee looked alarmed, realizing how upset she'd made everyone and wanting to cry. Slowly she picked up Arnold, leaving him enough time to nuzzle Yammark.

"It was just a joke," she said, getting up and working hard to keep her voice soft and steady. "It's a common one where I'm form. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to mess dinner up. I'm gonna scat."

Turning away and feeling ashamed and humiliated Jubee left as quickly as she could, Arnold vaguely confused as to why he was all of the sudden without food.

Yammark looks sadly at the pile of food Arnold had gathered, and then he really does start to cry. He's not sure what they did wrong for the day to go so badly, but they must have done something...

Scarab just wriggles in the beanbag again. "Gender isn't a malfunction, is it?" he asks. The whole thing has him very confused. Gate would never do anything to hurt them, he knew that. But Gate designed them. And if it was somehow a bad thing to be male...

"Of course not," Alia says, slipping from her seat to give the beetle a hug.

"Are we done here?" asks Flea. Right now, all he wants to do is leave.

Gate sighs and nods. "Yes, I think so." Paying for the food and then going for a bit of a walk so they can all calm down really seems the best option right now.
